Washington (Agencies): The Ukraine peace process is advancing, with a deal appearing “closer and closer,” according to US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. Speaking to Fox News on Thursday, Waltz emphasized the importance of both sides committing to peace and engaging in negotiations to end the conflict.

“The process is moving forward. Sometimes it ebbs and flows… We are moving closer and closer,” Waltz stated. He urged Russia to come to the table, adding, “Both sides have to want peace. Both sides have to want to stop the fighting, and we think there is still a deal to be had.”

Waltz also addressed Iran, highlighting US President Donald Trump’s readiness to negotiate a deal on its nuclear program. He stressed that Iran must act responsibly and cease supporting activities that threaten international security. “Not only can [Iran] not have a nuclear weapon, it cannot provide funding, resources, missiles, and assistance to a terrorist organization,” Waltz said, calling for an end to such actions.

US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is reportedly awaiting Tehran’s return to the negotiating table, signaling the administration’s continued push for diplomatic solutions.

As efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict and address Iran’s nuclear ambitions progress, the US underscores its commitment to fostering peace and stability on the global stage.
