Washington, D.C. (Agencies): The US House of Representatives has introduced a bipartisan resolution aimed at expanding the Abraham Accords through comprehensive educational reform.
The resolution, spearheaded by the Abraham Accords Caucus, emphasizes the importance of promoting peace and tolerance in educational curricula across the Middle East.
The resolution calls for the U.S. Department of State and civil society organizations to collaborate in promoting educational reforms that reduce antisemitic content, combat hate speech, and foster mutual respect and understanding.
Key countries targeted for these reforms include Egypt, the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia.
Representative Brad Schneider (D-IL) highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “The Abraham Accords have shown us the power of diplomacy and cooperation in the Middle East.
This resolution underscores the importance of educating future generations with the values of peace, tolerance, and coexistence.”
The resolution also encourages the U.S. to work with international organizations, such as the United Nations, to eliminate antisemitism and hate speech from educational materials, while promoting inclusivity and respect.
This initiative represents a key effort to build on the progress made through the historic Abraham Accords, ensuring that the next generation is equipped to continue the journey toward peace and stability in the region.
