Tashkent, Uzbekistan (Khyber Mail): Uzbekistan Airways is set to strengthen regional connectivity with the launch of direct flights between Tashkent and Islamabad starting June 14, 2025. The new route will operate every Saturday, reinforcing the commitment of both Uzbekistan and Pakistan to deepen bilateral ties and foster economic and cultural cooperation.

The addition of the Tashkent-Islamabad link marks a significant milestone in regional integration, aligning with the broader goals of the Central and South Asia Connectivity Initiative—a framework aimed at enhancing trade, infrastructure, energy cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.

Uzbekistan Airways, which already operates biweekly direct flights to Lahore on Wednesdays and Fridays, is expanding its footprint in Pakistan, creating greater mobility for business travelers, students, and tourists. The route is expected to facilitate cross-border investment and trade, benefiting industries such as textiles, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, transport, and tourism.

Beyond economic opportunities, the flight will strengthen people-to-people connections, making Uzbekistan’s famed Silk Road cities—Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva—more accessible to Pakistani travelers. Similarly, Uzbek visitors will have easier access to Pakistan’s diverse landscapes, including its northern mountains and historic sites.

This air route also complements broader regional infrastructure efforts, such as the Trans-Afghan Railway, supporting improved transit, logistics, and digital integration between Central and South Asia. With Uzbekistan positioning itself as a land-linked hub, the Tashkent-Islamabad connection plays a vital role in enhancing transregional trade and diplomacy.

As both nations pursue modernization and economic diversification, the new flight service is expected to drive greater interregional cooperation, supporting shared ambitions for a peaceful, interconnected, and economically resilient Asia.

With improved accessibility and travel efficiency, Uzbekistan Airways is turning strategic connectivity into reality—opening doors to stronger partnerships, cultural exchange, and new economic opportunities for Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and beyond.
