Kyiv (Agencies) – In a recent phone conversation, Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi expressed his concerns to the Supreme Commander of the Joint Armed Forces of NATO in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, about the deteriorating situation at the front lines. Syrskyi stated, “We are losing as the situation remains difficult and tends to worsen,” highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by Ukrainian forces.
This conversation follows recent discussions between Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and General Cavoli, who focused on military planning for the upcoming winter period and the types of weapons and ammunition that Washington might send to Kiev over the next five months. The New York Times reported that these discussions also included strategies to support Ukraine’s defense efforts during the harsh winter months.
Russia has criticized the arms supplies to Ukraine, arguing that they hinder the settlement of the conflict and directly involve NATO countries in the war. Despite these challenges, the Ukrainian forces continue to receive support from their international allies, aiming to maintain their defense capabilities against Russian aggression.
