BERLIN (Agencies): Germany has taken on the financial responsibility for supplying Ukraine with three installations of the US-manufactured High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), as announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
This decision came about during the prolonged wait for the $61 billion US aid package for Ukraine, which was eventually signed by President Joe Biden on April 24.
Despite promises from the Biden administration that the delivery of American military equipment would commence immediately, the impact on the battlefield remains to be seen weeks later.
Russia continues to make advancements on Ukrainian positions across various front lines, while the weaponry funded by Europe and the US is being effectively neutralized by Russia.
In response to the Russian special military operation, the US and its NATO allies have increased their aid to the Zelensky regime. However, Moscow has repeatedly warned that such assistance will only prolong the conflict in Ukraine. Furthermore, any Western weapons shipments to Ukraine are considered legitimate targets for attack by Russian forces.
