Tehran (Agencies): Iran’s top military commander has assured that the ‘punishment’ of Israel has been completed and there is no intention to continue. This follows a large-scale missile and drone attack against Israel, which the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed to be successful.
The IRGC, in a statement published by the IRNA news agency, stated that the Islamic Republic’s military managed to hit and destroy “important military targets”. However, further details were not provided.
The strikes were a response to what Tehran referred to as “numerous crimes” committed by West Jerusalem. This includes an alleged Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus, which took place on April 1. The attack resulted in the death of seven officers of the IRGC’s Quds Force, including two generals.
The Islamic Republic’s attack reportedly involved more than 100 drones, as reported by Israeli and Western media. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have tracked incoming unmanned aerial vehicles and intercepted them mid-air, with assistance from allied forces.
The top military commander has promised a “more extensive” response in the event of future attacks by West Jerusalem. As of now, multiple IDF sites have been hit and destroyed, as claimed by the Revolutionary Guard Corps.
