This excessive bleeding can result from the inability of the uterus to contract adequately after the placenta is delivered or from issues with blood vessels, the cervix, or other factors.
Symptoms of postpartum haemorrhage may include severe and persistent bleeding, a rapid heart rate, low blood pressure, dizziness, and a pale appearance. Prompt medical attention is crucial to manage and treat postpartum haemorrhage, which may involve medications, manual interventions, or, in severe cases, surgery.
It’s essential for pregnant individuals and those around them to be aware of the signs of postpartum haemorrhage and seek immediate medical help if any symptoms arise. Mumtaz Mahal died from postpartum haemorrhage in Burhanpur on November 17, 1631, while giving birth to her 14th child after a prolonged labour lasting around 30 hours.
This thing shows that South Asian countries still in the 21st century suffered from this and lost many precious lives. In interior Sindh, especially Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, and Hyderabad, many people have lost their lives due to hemorrhage. Instead of celebrating happiness, they experience the loss of the new mother.
In the modern era, we must have alternate ways and precautionary measures that help our moms get rid of this drastic hemorrhage. The mortality rate is heartbreaking because all these things are curable, but still, we lost the lives of the new moms.
