Islamabad (Adnan Hameed): The ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) successfully organized a vibrant event themed “Family BBQ, Year-End Get-Together” on December 22, 2023. Hosted under the leadership of the Chair of ACI, Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Amb. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, the occasion aimed to foster camaraderie among diplomats and families from ASEAN embassies in Islamabad.
Amb. Mazlan, addressing the gathering, highlighted the significance of providing a platform for informal interactions. He expressed optimism that such gatherings would instill a sense of togetherness within the ASEAN community in Pakistan. With over 200 guests, including local officials and media personnel, Amb. Mazlan expressed joy and envisioned the event becoming an annual tradition.
The festive atmosphere was heightened as guests indulged in a culinary journey featuring diverse cuisines from ASEAN embassies. From satay with peanut sauce to padthai, nasi goreng, bakso, and sagudana, the event showcased the rich flavors and cultural influences of Southeast Asia.
Amidst warm greetings and cultural exchanges, the ASEAN diplomats and families celebrated the diversity of ASEAN traditions in Pakistan. The event transcended a mere social gathering, symbolizing a celebration of shared values and aspirations uniting the Southeast Asian nations.
The ASEAN Family BBQ, Year-End Get-Together served as a testament to the enduring friendship and solidarity among ASEAN nations. It reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a prosperous and harmonious future with the host nation, Pakistan.
