PESHAWAR (Khyber Mail): A blast near Board Bazaar in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claimed the lives of two individuals and left one critically injured, officials confirmed today.
Bilal Faizi, spokesperson for Rescue 1122, provided details of the casualties to the media, stating that the victims were swiftly transported to Khyber Teaching Hospital, and the immediate vicinity of the explosion was secured.
Peshawar’s Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations), Kashif Aftab Abbasi, informed the media that Counter Terrorism Department teams, alongside other law enforcement agencies, were on-site collecting evidence. He revealed the discovery of a severely damaged body and a mangled motorcycle at the scene.
Abbasi explained that the explosion occurred during the transportation of four to five kilograms of explosives on a motorcycle. Two individuals involved in the transportation lost their lives, while one sustained injuries. Ongoing efforts are underway to identify the suspects responsible for this heinous act.
In response to the incident, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has requested a comprehensive report from the provincial police chief, according to a statement from the CM Office.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a press release from his office, vehemently condemned the blast and extended prayers for the deceased. He directed that the injured receive the best possible medical care and reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating terrorism in the country.
Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of the National Assembly, also denounced the blast, expressing sorrow over the loss of innocent lives. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threat of terrorism, prompting renewed efforts to ensure the safety and security of the citizens.
