BEIJING (Agencies): Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin conveyed heartfelt condolences on Thursday following the demise of Pakistan’s former foreign minister, Sartaj Aziz, acknowledging his remarkable contributions to China-Pakistan relations.

Sartaj Aziz, who also served as the former finance minister and adviser to the prime minister on foreign affairs, peacefully passed away in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During a routine news briefing, Wang Wenbin expressed, “Mr. Aziz was a seasoned politician, strategist, and economic expert of Pakistan, and an old and valued friend of the Chinese people.”

Highlighting Aziz’s dedication to the prosperity of Pakistan, Wang emphasized his unwavering efforts to bolster China-Pakistan relations, citing his outstanding contributions to the friendly cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the initiation and development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

“We extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Mr. Aziz and convey sincere sympathies to his family,” added the spokesperson.
