PESHAWAR (Staff Report): Ph.D. thesis defense examination of Engr. Muhammad Abas, Department of Industrial Engineering, UET Peshawar was successfully held at the Video Conference Hall, UET Peshawar the other day.
He presented his research findings through a seminar in a public forum session, followed by Viva-Voce examination by the Examination Committee.
The research topic of Engr. Abas was “Optimization of process parameters of fused deposition modeling in the development of assistive devices used in physical rehabilitation of People with Disabilities” supervised by Prof. Dr. Sahar Noor, Dean Faculty of Mechanical, Chemical and Industrial Engineering, UET Peshawar. At the same time, Dr. Tufail Habib, Department of Industrial Engineering, served as his Co-Supervisor.
His Research Evaluation Committee (REC) also included Mr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas, CEO of Paraplegic Center Peshawar ((PCP), Dr. Imran Ahmed, Department of Industrial Engineering, UET Peshawar, Dr. Muftooh Ur Rehman, Associate Professor, CECOS University Peshawar.
Engr. Abas is a lecturer at the Department of Industrial Engineering, UET Peshawar, and has published four (04) research impact factor papers in internationally reputed journals.
The research was funded by the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and conducted in a joint collaboration with the industry i.e., Paraplegic Center Peshawar. His research was focused on applying additive manufacturing technology to develop assistive devices for individuals with disabilities, playing a pivotal role in physical rehabilitation.
The researcher successfully designed and developed assistive devices using emerging technologies to create sustainable solutions for the disabled community. Mr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas, CEO of PCP appreciated the efforts and research work carried out by Engr. Muhammad Abas. He hoped that his research would help PCP in developing assistive devices for the handicapped.
