Islamabad (Adnan Hameed): Federal Minister for Planning Development & Special Initiatives, Prof Ahsan Iqbal, convened a meeting with Ms. Pang Chunxue, the Chinese Charge d’ Affairs, to discuss the progress of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Planning, Chief Economist of Pakistan, who also serves as the Project Director of CPEC, and other officials.
Both sides expressed their commitment to expedite the implementation of CPEC projects, which have played a pivotal role in driving economic growth, enhancing infrastructure development, and fostering regional connectivity over the past decade.
As part of the 10-year celebrations of CPEC, the CPEC Secretariat and the Planning Ministry are organizing various events across the country, including an international conference, academic sessions, and cultural shows.
During the meeting, Prof Ahsan Iqbal highlighted several projects related to energy, power, and infrastructure, reaffirming the government’s dedication to completing CPEC initiatives under the leadership of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Since assuming power in April 2022, the government has revitalized CPEC projects that were previously halted by the previous administration.
As part of the 10-year celebrations, a two-day international conference will be held in Islamabad, where Pakistani and Chinese companies involved in the CPEC projects will be honored with souvenirs. The Planning Ministry has also prepared a special commemorative coin for the occasion.
Furthermore, special documentaries showcasing the achievements of CPEC will be presented during the event, commemorating the significant progress made over the past decade.
