Islamabad (Staff Report): Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari recently had a productive telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of the Russian Federation, discussing various bilateral matters and the increasing collaboration between their countries.
During the call, Foreign Minister Zardari extended an invitation to Foreign Minister Lavrov to visit Pakistan, reinforcing the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations.
One of the key topics of discussion was the Black Sea Grain Initiative (BSGI). Recognizing its significance and potential impact on global food supply chains, Foreign Minister Zardari emphasized the need for collective efforts to address the challenges of food inflation and food security, particularly in developing countries facing economic strains. He expressed hope for constructive dialogue among all parties involved in the BSGI to revive the initiative. Pakistan reaffirmed its support for international endeavors in restoring the deal while addressing the concerns of all parties involved.
The Foreign Minister also shared his discussions on the BSGI with the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Turkey, the US Secretary of State, and the EU High Representative. In turn, Foreign Minister Lavrov offered Russia’s perspective on the matter.
Both Foreign Ministers agreed to maintain close communication on the issue, indicating a commitment to finding viable solutions and furthering cooperation between their respective countries.
