RAWALPINDI (Agencies): Major (Retired) Adil Farooq Raja and Captain (Retired) Haider Raza Mehdi, both former officers of the Pakistan Army, have been convicted and sentenced through a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) under the Pakistan Army Act, 1952.

The charges against them include inciting sedition among army personnel, violating the provisions of the Official Secrets Act, 1923 related to espionage, and engaging in acts prejudicial to the safety and interest of the State.

The court of competent jurisdiction completed the judicial process, delivering convictions on October 7th and 9th, 2023. The punishments awarded are as follows:

  • Major (Retired) Adil Farooq Raja: 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.
  • Captain (Retired) Haider Raza Mehdi: 12 years of rigorous imprisonment.

In addition to the prison sentences, both officers had their ranks forfeited on November 21, 2023. The convictions highlight the serious nature of the charges brought against them and emphasize the commitment to upholding discipline, security, and the integrity of the state within the armed forces.
