PESHAWAR (Khyber Mail): In light of the recent rains and the high risk of a dengue outbreak, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has prepared a comprehensive action plan to prevent the spread of the dengue virus in the province.
The plan, as explained by Director Public Health Dr. Irshad Roghani, will adopt a multi-sectoral approach to control the spread of dengue in the province. This approach signifies the collaboration of various sectors and departments to ensure the effective implementation of preventive measures.
As part of the plan, more than twelve hundred beds in government hospitals across the province will be allocated for dengue patients. This includes three hundred beds specifically in the hospitals of Peshawar, ensuring that adequate facilities are available to cater to the potential influx of patients.
Furthermore, a Dengue Control Room will be established at the Directorate General Health Services. This control room will serve as a central hub for coordinating all dengue-related activities and responses in the province.
The KP government’s proactive measures highlight their commitment to safeguarding public health and their readiness to tackle potential health crises. The multi-sectoral approach and the establishment of a dedicated control room demonstrate a well-structured and comprehensive plan to combat the dengue threat.
