PESHAWAR (KhyberMail): During their visit to Peshawar, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and COAS General Syed Asim Munir were briefed on the overall security situation in the province, with a particular focus on the recent Khar Suicide Blast.
The authorities provided updates on ongoing investigations and the counter-terrorism efforts to dismantle the terrorist network by disrupting the linkages between planners, executioners, and abettors.
Expressing concern, the Prime Minister highlighted the involvement of Afghan citizens in the suicide blasts and emphasized the need for concrete measures by the Interim Afghan government to prevent its soil from being used for transnational terrorism. He called for decisive action to thwart attacks planned and executed from sanctuaries across the border.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the prompt emergency efforts by the Army in evacuating wounded personnel from Khar to Peshawar, which resulted in saving many lives.
In a gesture of compassion, the Prime Minister and COAS visited the wounded personnel being treated at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and inquired about their well-being. The Prime Minister instructed the concerned authorities to ensure the best possible healthcare services for the wounded patients until their full recovery.
In a meeting with the bereaved family members of the victims of the Khar Suicide Blast, PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed solidarity and assured them that the entire nation stands with them during this difficult time. He reiterated the nation’s determination to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan and affirmed that security forces, with the support of law enforcement agencies and the public, will bring those responsible for the heinous attacks to justice swiftly.
Upon their arrival in Peshawar, the Prime Minister and COAS were warmly received by Commander Peshawar Corps.
