ISLAMABAD (Agencies): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered an immediate release of Rs 23 billion to address the issues faced by the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The decision was made in a special meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, according to a press release from the PM Office.

The move comes in response to protest demonstrations witnessed in different parts of AJK over the past few days. The protestors were seeking reduced electricity bills and taxes, as well as subsidized wheat flour.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of AJK, AJK cabinet members, senior leadership, federal ministers, and leaders of the coalition parties. The participants of the meeting expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz for his decision to provide the funds.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to resolving the issues confronting the people of AJK and improving their living conditions.
