KABUL (Agencies): A road accident in Nangarhar province, eastern Afghanistan, resulted in two fatalities and 13 injuries, according to local police reports on Saturday. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Police District 9 in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, on Friday night. A car overturned due to reckless driving, instantly killing two people and injuring 13 others, as reported by provincial police spokesman Hafiz Mawlawi Abdul Basir Zabuli.
The injured victims were promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Zabuli added that the accident victims included women and children.
In a separate incident, one person was killed and four others were injured in two road accidents in Bamyan province, central Afghanistan, on Friday.
Traffic accidents are a significant issue in Afghanistan, with hundreds of people losing their lives each year. The primary causes of these accidents include poor road conditions, rugged terrains, overloading of vehicles, and overspeeding.
