WASHINGTON (Agencies): The Biden administration is offering Israel secret intelligence that will assist in locating Hamas leaders and uncovering its underground infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. This offer comes with the condition that Israel refrains from launching a full-scale military operation in Rafah.
US officials have also proposed to aid in providing thousands of shelters for Palestinians evacuated from Rafah. Furthermore, Washington is collaborating with Cairo to locate and seal tunnels that cross the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip in the Rafah area. These tunnels have been used by Hamas to replenish military supplies.
Earlier this week, the Israeli army initiated a military operation in the eastern parts of Rafah and gained control of the Gaza side of the Rafah crossing with Egypt. Israeli authorities have stated that the operation aims to eliminate the remaining battalions of the Palestinian movement, Hamas, in the Gaza Strip. On Friday, Israeli media reported that Israel’s military cabinet had approved the expansion of the ground operation in Rafah.
