NEW DELHI (Agencies): An Apache helicopter belonging to the Indian Air Force (IAF) made an emergency landing during an operational sortie in Ladakh. The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 3, 2024
The aircraft sustained damage during the landing process due to the undulating terrain and high altitude.
Both the pilots on board are safe and have been recovered to the nearest airbase12. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause. This incident marks the first such occurrence involving an Apache chopper in the IAF.
The IAF had procured 22 US-made Apache attack helicopters. The Apache is one of the world’s most advanced and proven attack helicopters, capable of delivering a variety of weapons, including air-to-ground Hellfire missiles.
